We just stopped through as we were traveling home. The service was great and very fast for fresh cooked meal. The treats we got to eat after our meal were delicious. We got biscoff fudge and a huckleberry cake of some sort... we all agreed that they were amazing and unfortunately got eaten too quickly to get a picture of any of it. I would definitely recommend a stop if you are in the area, at least grab one of their delectable treats. We had our dog with us and they had a bowl of water out for animals too in their outdoor eating area.
Stopped into this amazing spot in Usk while biking through. Began with a fresh out of the oven chai snickerdoodle cookie. Perfect pairing of flavors. I’m hooked. I had 2 tacos with black beans. The corn shells were huge and generously stuffed. The beans were perfectly seasoned and the cheese was all melty in the middle. So yummy. My partner had the ramen shrimp special. He said the broth was rich in flavor and the noodles had perfect texture. If you’re ever in the vicinity of Usk, I encourage you to try Mellany’s. You will not regret it. The menu is expansive and you sure to find something to tempt your palate. As for me, I just want another cookie.
My wife and I split a bowl of chili for eight bucks and was an excellent way to end our snowshoeing trip. They have an awesome collection of hot sauces and good baked goods. I look forward to trying out more. The prices seemed quite reasonable to me.
Mellany's Bakery isn't just a bakery. They are a community staple. Not only do they bake cookies, they also have a program in place that helps the community eat if money is tight. I highly recommend the burgers, however the specials are mouth watering each time I try. The hours might be odd, and it might take some time if it's busy, but when you get your meal you will devour it and forget about anything else except for the flavors that are dancing in your mouth. 12/10 Highly recommend.
This is a small family owned and ran restaurant where their heart and soul is put into every dish and every customer. They actively support the community with several different programs including a soup kitchen. We have only eaten here twice but it has been excellent.
Update 8/4/24 We stopped again this year and it was delicious as always! Special Philly cheese steak sandwich special. Great burger, potato salad and tacos, very nice people and a VAST hot sauce selection! I'll stop any time I am in the area. Edit: Another stop and had an awesome clam chowder bread bowl! So good. Thank you.
Absolutely LOVE these small little hidden jems...I almost hate to review it in fear of it being...not too small. When you first step in you are a little surprised how cozy the seating area is in comparison to how large the building looks from the outside. Once seated you get that cozy right-at-home feeling surrounded by eclectic country decor and locally made handicrafts and art for purchase. We arrived just about 15 minutes before they shut down for an hour and a half for changeover between 1:30 to 3pm and they didn't bat an eye or seemed put out over it. We were pretty hungry and decided to try a couple of things. We both ordered sandwiches. I had the sausage lasagna soup and macaroni salad. My partner got chili with all the fixings and a taco. The portions were very generous and we definitely did not leave hungry! Her soups are to die for and you can actually differentiate the taste of the sandwhich fixings! We also left with a pan of cinnamon rolls with oh so creamy icing on the side (no pic because she kept it in the fridge for me until we were ready to leave) and some day olds. Let me tell you, they didn't make it to day 2. There's a fun assortment of different bottled/canned refreshments in the cooler to choose from sure to satisfy any flavor craving. It's warming up now, she also boasts a huge covered deck with comfortable outdoor seating! Wifi is available as well although I didn't have time to test it because we ended up in delightful conversation with Mellany and her husband the whole time! Super awesome souls y'all! They are VERY accepting of all walks of folk so don't be shy, swing by!
One of best meals I have had. Such a hidden gem, the people and food are equally fine. Thanks for welcoming new people
